Deadline for Post-Acceptance Documents & Intake Fee
. . .with an eye to the family dynamic. Many OUM students had wanted to study medicine long before their first day at medical school. But life happened, and the responsibilities and challenges of careers, families, mortgages, geography, and more, interrupted the best-laid plans.
A Curriculum for the Ambitious and Curious
Accepted applicants who want to enroll in OUM’s MD program must provide all Post-Acceptance Documents (i.e., Criminal Background Check, Immunization Records, and Student ID Card Photo) and Intake Fee by the deadline. See your jurisdiction’s Intake Fee on the Tuition and Fees page.
Post-Acceptance Documents
The items listed in this application checklist are required to submit your application:
Criminal Background Check
The background check must be obtained from an approved service and no earlier than three (3) months prior to Orientation. Please refer to your offer of acceptance for approved services.
Immunization Record
- Please provide immunization records documenting immunity to Mumps, Rubella, Pertussis, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and a booster every 10 years for Diphtheria and Tetanus. Medical students should also have an annual influenza immunization and an annual TB test (PPD). All immunizations must be listed on your records, and the original immunization record is not required.
- You may also have your medical practitioner fill out the OUM Vaccination Compliance Form.
- Please email your immunization records or the Vaccination Compliance Form to admissions@oum.edu.ws no earlier than (3) months prior to Orientation and submit it by the deadline.
Valid Student ID Card Photo
- To create your student ID card, please provide a recent, color passport-style photo that meets the following criteria:
- Headshot only (head and shoulders visible)
- White or light background
- Neutral or naturally smiling facial expression
- High-resolution png/jpg/jpeg/pdf format.
- Upload the photo to your student file in SIS by the deadline.
- Note: Your student ID card is mandatory and must be worn during your Clinical Rotations and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). It will be automatically ordered for you in the last week of the General Principles Unit and mailed to the postal address you provided when you enrolled.

Session 1 (Two Hours)
What to expect: Join Dr. McGuire and Dr. Okeke in Session 1 to discuss what to expect in medical school, strategies for study and test-taking, the importance of active learning and attending class, building your student support groups and support system, and self-care and resiliency for medical students.

- A day in the life of a medical student

- Fundamentals (study skills assessment, mindset, routine, environment, study methods)
- Planning for success (time management — hourly, daily, weekly, strategizing, efficiency/effectiveness, planning for exams)

- Getting the most out of class and study groups
- Understanding and developing your support system (peer, faculty, family, advisors, etc.)
- Study groups (making connections)
- Importance of work-life balance
- Online learning (remote exams, Zoom, WhatsApp, software tools, etc.)

Orientation Week (O Week)
O Week Details
OUM’s New Student Orientation O Week is designed to ensure a strong start to your studies. Whether you’re joining us from North America, Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, or Samoa, O Week offers a mix of live and asynchronous sessions tailored to prepare you for success as you begin your studies at OUM.
6-9 January 2026 (American Samoa, Canada, and the US) & 7-10 January 2026 (ANZ/S): O Week (January 2026 Intake)
What to expect: OUM’s New Student Orientation (O Week) will be delivered as a series of daily live Zoom sessions between 6-9 January 2026 (American Samoa, Canada, and the US) and 7-10 January 2026 (Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and Samoa) and a set of asynchronous activities. Live sessions are offered via Zoom and include:
